On the occasion of the 39th German-Brazilian Economic Meeting, German Vice Chancellor and Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Climate Action Robert Habeck, and Federal Minister of Food and Agriculture Cem Özdemir met the Vice-President of the Federative Republic of Brazil and Minister of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade Geraldo Alckmin in the Brazilian city of Belo Horizonte in mid-March. The meeting held between representatives from politics and business of both countries focused on topics such as strategic partnership between the two countries, the MERCOSUR-EU Agreement and the cooperation in the field of energy, digitization, infrastructure, agriculture and innovation.
In the margins of this high-level meeting, a Letter of Intent (LOI) was signed between the project partners BSBIOS represented by CEO Erasmo Carlos Battistella, and EDL Anlagenbau Gesellschaft mbH represented by Dr. Rüdiger Schwarz, Head of Strategic Communication PtX Projects, in the presence of the General Manager of The Chamber of Foreign Trade Rio Grande do Sul Dietmar Sukop for the purpose of developing a hydrogen-based production of eSAF (electrical based Sustainable Aviation Fuel) in Brazil based on EDL’s technological know-how.
With this Letter of Intent, the parties follow the common goal to examine the necessary prerequisites for the construction of a commercial eSAF production plant with a capacity of 100,000 t/a SAF in Brazil and to evaluate the required framework conditions.
On March 29th, 2023, EDL welcomed the BSBIOS’ President and CEO Erasmo Carlos Battistella in Leipzig to continue the negotiations.
