New ship loading station for Pischelsdorf

The Pörner Group, as general contractor, was responsible for the construction of a new €3.5 Million ship loading station for grain and feed. In March 2015 the station begun trial operation as a joint venture between Agrana and Donau Chemie at the industrial site in Pischelsdorf/Lower Austria. This new facility provides substantial economic benefits for the site.

As early as 2007 Pörner was established as the general planner for the bioethanol plant in the industrial park in Pischelsdorf. Back then loading stations for trains and trucks were built for transporting grain raw materials, feed and ethanol. Since the site already has a connection to the Danube, retrofitting a ship loading station with high capacity was the obvious next step.

As a result, Pörner was commissioned by Agrana Starke GmbH and Donau Chemie AG in the spring of 2014 with the planning and construction of a stationary ship loading station. This included an attached conveyor bridge to allow the supply of raw materials as well as the further transport of locally produces feed products cost effectively.

The scope of services by Pörner comprised of the general planning, from the feasibility study BEYOND - creating the legal documents for authorities approval, detailed engineering for construction, mechanical and electrical instrumentation, site supervision for the construction as well as commissioning support.

The Plant

In addition to the construction of the loading crane, all the necessary extensions and modifications were made to the system in order to integrate the new ship loading station. This included the new conveyor belt which passes through a 150m long steel structure and acts as the link between the new and the existing conveyor system of the bioethanol plant.

With this system the conveyor belt can unload or load a ship with a standard capacity of 1000 tons in just a few hours. This volume corresponds to about 12 rail cars. The volume of material that is loaded or unloaded with the conveyer can be calibrated with an accuracy of ± 0.5%.
