ESG & Sustainability
We take responsibility for the environment and society
As a technology and engineering company, we are responsible for people, the environment, and the future. We combine engineering expertise with sustainability to ensure an efficient, safe, and future-proof industry.
The plants we engineer and realize meet the highest technical standards and significantly contribute to climate protection, resource efficiency, and CO₂ reduction. Technology is not an end in itself for us, but rather a tool for sustainable economic, ecological, and social development.
Currently, we are developing a company-wide system for monitoring energy consumption, CO₂ emissions, and waste production. Based on this system, we establish measurable ESG targets that are reviewed during the annual management review.
Policy for quality, health, safety and environmental protection
Quality, safety, and environmental protection are central to our corporate responsibility. Our integrated management system (IMS), based on ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 requirements, ensures quality, health, safety, and environmental protection are embedded in every project.
The Pörner Group is TÜV-certified according to EN ISO 9001 and SCC. We have firmly anchored the principles of ISO 14001 (environmental management) and ISO 45001 (occupational health and safety) in our processes and are consistently developing them further as a basis for continuously improving and expanding our certifications.
Our subsidiary, TAF, is a certified welding company for high-temperature and high-pressure applications, complementing our network. Outside the EU, we adhere to country-specific standards for engineering, construction, and installation.
Zero accidents is our goal – and our benchmark.
Our systems receive regular external audits and are reviewed and further developed during annual management reviews.
We promote the continuous training of our employees, focusing on occupational safety, environmental, social, and governance (ESG) awareness, and ethical behavior. Through preventive safety management and regular audits, we create safe workplaces and sustainable project results.
Our technologies for a sustainable industry
With over 50 years of experience, we develop solutions that combine economic efficiency and sustainability:
- Biturox® Bitumen: Efficient Use of Resources
Maximum yield and minimum energy consumption: High-quality bitumen from a wide range of crude oils for long-lasting roads.
- Bio-Silicate: Use of Renewable Raw Materials
High-purity silicates produced economically from renewable materials with up to 70% lower CO₂ emissions compared to conventional production methods.
- Power-to-X and Biomass-to-X: Decarbonization of Industrial Processes
These are key technologies for lower-carbon energy and production systems.
- Pörner Water: Clean Water
Advanced recycling and water treatment technologies for conserving industry resources.
- Revamp: Extending the life cycle of existing plants.
Fewer new buildings, lower CO₂ emissions, more efficient use of existing resources
This is how we actively shape industrial change: technologically advanced, economically viable, and ecologically responsible.
Our Code of Conduct: Integrity and Fairness
Integrity and fairness are part of our DNA. Our Code of Conduct requires all employees and partners to uphold the highest ethical standards.
We act transparently, responsibly, and without discrimination worldwide. We do not tolerate corruption, accepting advantages, or unethical behavior.
Violations can be reported securely and anonymously via our confidential whistleblower system. In accordance with EU Directive 2019/1937, we protect whistleblowers, thereby creating trust and transparency in all business relationships.
Responsible supply chain
Sustainability doesn't end at the factory gate.
We expect our suppliers, subcontractors, and partners to adhere to environmental, social, and ethical standards. These requirements are part of our Code of Conduct and Ethics, and they are incorporated into our ESG supplier assessment.
Starting in 2026, we will systematically assess the ESG performance of our supply chain. Our goal is to achieve transparent and traceable procurement that makes environmental, social, and governance aspects measurable.
